In Greek Mythology Aphrodite falls head over heels in love with a young man named Adonis. She is so smitten with this handsome mortal that she started to neglect Olympus and her duties as a Goddess.This painting depicts Aphrodite and Adonis in a Garden of Eden of sorts.
